Clearing the Air with Colin McGovern

Colin McGovern - Lincoln Way-West High School - New Lenox, IL
After the post yesterday identifying Ethan Pocic as the possible replacement for departing David Dawson many people suggested that Colin McGovern was more likely considering his close relationship with Logan Tuley-Tillman.  I got in touch with Colin tonight and he seems even less likely to wear the Maize and Blue than Pocic.  I asked McGovern if he would like to talk about Michigan and the newly available scholarship and he said, "Sure I can talk, I just want to let you know that I'm set at Notre Dame so if it's about possibly decommitting there's no way."  I assured him I hadn't heard anything at all about a decommitment but that his name had come up about being courted by Michigan to replace Dawson.  He then said, "I just got a message from Tuley-Tillman, but yea nothing against Michigan I'm just set at Notre Dame."  He also confirmed that Michigan had not contacted him as of yet which leads me to believe that Michigan may think there is a legitimate shot at flipping Pocic.  McGovern finished our conversation saying that he would talk to Michigan but basically just to say that "unless something huge happens I've ended my recruiting."  National Signing Day is still over three months away and a lot can happen in that amount of time but I think McGovern will sign with Notre Dame.

  1. I do trust your take a lot more, cuz you can kinda tell when you actually talk to them, but I feel like they have to say that. Every recruit, at least that I can think of, at least says they're firm in their commitment. Its pretty much required, even if they aren't actually firm in their commitment

  2. Definitely true jr. Ultimately the only thing you can trust is what they say even though it changes often. Recruiting is 100% inexact, haha.

  3. Here is a name I have forgotten. Na'Ty Rodgers. Is he a option?

  4. Given last years 4 solid OL, and this years already 4 solid OL, we need to only replace Dawson if the OL prospect is elite. We are in good shape with some solid kids for '14, and we will have 3 straight years of building elite depth for the OL position...so if the OL is not elite, then use it for another position in this class, or build up the numbers for next years class. Those position that come to mind are WR, TE and DL

#Michigan reaching out to Na'Ty Rodgers, Dorian Johnson and Brendan Mahon I hear. I would take any of them. I hear Mahon is a breast. I have not seen his film just going by what others have said.

He maybe be worth a look. And Lovell Peterson he may have some academics issues. The film on him was good as well. If you guys have the time check them out. See what you guys think?
