Brady Hoke Visits Enoch Smith Jr.

Michigan head man Brady Hoke made a stop in the Windy City yesterday to see 2014 DT Enoch Smith Jr. at his Mt. Carmel High School.  Smith holds eight offers right now and he is really hoping to add Michigan to that list.  He described his visit with Brady Hoke as very nice and he gave some good details about what it's like to sit down with the head coach.  "As soon as I walked in he had a smile on his face.  When I introduced myself to him he said, 'Yeah, I know who you are.' Then he went on to say how good Michigan was and how he wants me to come visit.  He also talked about having one of the best defensive line coaches in the country.  He's a very cool and chilled guy.  He seemed very humble."  This was Smith's first time meeting the coach and Hoke clearly made him feel very comfortable, which is a common trend among recruits.  Smith visited Michigan last year for a camp but he definitely wants to visit again now that the Wolverines are expressing more interest in him.  He plans to speak at length with his parents in order to arrange a visit to Ann Arbor.  I asked Smith what his general thoughts were about Michigan after attending a camp, meeting the coach, and looking into the university more and he said, "I have always liked Michigan.  I've looked at Michigan as a force to be reckoned with.  I would like that offer in the near future.  I can't really say for sure if I think an offer is coming because schools have told me that before."  Smith is an extremely intelligent young man who takes this process very seriously and has a terrific support system at home to help him in his decision.  He finished our conversation with a very to-the-point statement, "I was happy to get a chance to meet Coach Brady Hoke.  Hopefully the next time we see each other the offer will be on the table."  I give Michigan an extremely good chance of landing Enoch Smith Jr. if the coaches do decide to an extend an offer.  He genuinely cares about his academic future which always bodes well for the Wolverines.  He is a young man of high character and will never be an issue off the field and we all know those are the kinds of kids Hoke and company want in Ann Arbor.

  1. Hey Coach, Just wanted to say that I appreciate how you tell us at the end of the interview how much of a chance we have at landing the kid!

    1. Thanks! I always try to put that in there from the vibe I get in talking to these kids. Obviously the tone and excitement I get when I talk to them doesn't always show up when I type the article. Just a little insight.
