Michigan already had five offensive linemen committed in this years class and today Dan Samuelson committed while on an official visit to Ann Arbor taking the total to six. Its possible that Samuelson may be the last offensive lineman taken but that is not a guarantee. Samuelson confirmed that the coaching staff is more than prepared to take 7 offensive linemen. Cameron Hunt is also visiting Ann Arbor right now and some believe he could join the fold as well. Samuelson told me that he and Cameron Hunt were both thoroughly enjoying their visits but he hadn't specifically talked to Hunt about committing. Samuelson was previously committed to Nebraska but he told me the distance from his home in Indiana to Lincoln was just too far. The 3 hour trip to Ann Arbor was much more doable. Samuelson is 6'5" and 275 lbs. and isn't ranked all that high as a 3-star prospect but adding depth on the o-line is always nice. I asked Dan about his feelings of the added depth being 1 of 6 linemen in the class and he said he is excited about it. His exact words were "I like all five of those guys. I know Michigan is lacking in a sense of scholarship linemen and they are creating a very deep line. If we all form into 315 lb. monsters it will be pretty awesome." Samuelson makes commitment #25 for Team 134. Expect the Wolverines to take 2-3 more recruits as National Signing Day approaches.

To be honest he is not the commitment I was hoping for today because I thought he would commit on Monday. So a couple of days early is fine by me. Now UM needs to land Hunt. UM needs depth on the O Line because you are always one play away from injury,
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing about this is UM could of had Pocic.
DeleteAt the time, they didn't know about all the attrition. They thought the class was going to be 23-25. Now, with 28 scholarships available, it doesn't surprise me to see them going after more OL. I just hope all of the current commits are okay with it.
DeletePocic would've been nice!!! Hopefully we can land a few big names by signing day!
Deletegarbage...we need a skillful WR, not 7 OL
ReplyDeleteHere's a news flash for. UM got the best wr they could get. All the elite wr passed on UM. Maybe next year UM can get a elite wr but until then UM needs to get bigger up front to protect the QB and run the ball.
DeleteCan't stribling play wr?
ReplyDeleteWe have the Number 1 class in the country according to scout.com lol. I think people need to relax and enjoy the future of Michigan football.
ReplyDeleteCan we tell Hoke to put on a headset and be more ENGAGED in the game....?
Delete^ thank you
ReplyDeleteDamon Webb committed to Ohio State on the heels of his visit to them upsetting us in basketball..I think I wanna puke this is the worst group of days as a UM fan I can remember since the end of last year and missing on all 5 final targets
ReplyDeleteI was just checking out scout.com and see that Braden Smith (2014 OL Target) going to visit Michigan.
ReplyDeleteThis kid is a beast. 6'6" 275 and looks like he could easily put on 30 lbs.
He looks like Drago from Rocky 5.
