A few days ago head man Brady Hoke, as well as defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery made a stop in Charlotte to extend an offer to Elijah Hood. Hood is a fast, powerful back who would fit perfectly in Michigan's new pro-style offense behind mammoth offensive linemen. I have been talking to Hood for a long time after I saw him in person at the Nike SPARQ Combine in Charlotte last year. He passes the eyeball test with flying colors and seems to have a great head on his shoulders. Elijah has been great in keeping me updated with all of his recruiting news and until just 3 days ago none of it ever had anything to do with Michigan. With the Wolverines being late to the party they will have a lot of ground to make up but Hood told me has interest in Michigan and also what he's looking for in a school.
Michigan stopping by: Big day! (Laughs) Brady Hoke and Coach Montgomery came and talked to my coach today and I received an offer from Michigan. He actually came in finally! (Laughs)
*I had been teasing Elijah for a while wondering what was taking Michigan so long.
Feeling Michigan: I mean it's more comforting now. I can know that they actually are committed to me by offering me a scholarship. I get a good vibe from Michigan. They are top 10ish for me right now. If it's meant to be I think I will end up there, but I just really don't know much yet. It would be nice to get on campus. It is definitely worth a shot to take a visit.
Preferred offense: It doesn't matter to me. I think I can succeed in any offense but pro-style would do me best because I could learn and relate to it quicker.
School of choice: I mean a lot of these schools have their own special things and stuff and that diversity almost makes them all equal. It just comes down to what flavor of ice cream I want and what I want to do. For me its going to be the place that sets me up to be successful. There are a lot of schools that can do that for me and I can only pick one. It's very hard actually. In my mind the uniform I'm wearing in college changes everyday. I really never cheered for anyone in football growing up but I've always liked North Carolina basketball so that won't really be a factor.
I'm not sure if Michigan has a great chance with Hood but I think he would be a perfect fit for the new offense. He has power, speed, balance, and smarts. He rushed for 3,309 yards and 48 touchdowns as a junior. Again, I'm not sure why it took so long for Michigan to offer because he had one of the most productive seasons in the country and when he finishes his career he'll be one of the most decorated running backs in the history of North Carolina high school football. I get a feeling that Michigan will be on the outside looking in but we will see.

I think the coaches were so focused on the season they had to put recruiting on the back burner. Now the coaches have a lot of catching up to do with a lot of recruits. Hopefully the recruits won't hold it against UM. UM coaches are down to earth guys and truly care about the kids that come to UM.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that this kid is a beast and would be a perfect fit for UM.
"He rushed for 3,309 yards and 48 touchdowns as a junior."
ReplyDeleteHoly Shit those are some impressive numbers. What is the competition like in NC?
Tell him to pick peppermint ice cream
