Small Visit Weekend

Michigan expects to host 4 young men this weekend.  2014 prospects Parrker Westphal and Daniel Helm and 2015 prospects and Cass Tech teammates Josh Alabi and Mike Weber round out the list of visitors for this weekend.  I was able to talk to Westphal, Helm, and Weber, but was unable to get a hold of Alabi.  These young men will be in Ann Arbor at different times with different plans, but the fact that they are there is always good.  Here's the scoop.

Parrker Westphal will be on campus Sunday to speak with the coaches and take in the basketball game against Penn State which should get the Wolverines back on track.  Westphal is a highly coveted cornerback with good size at 6'1" and really good speed, reportedly in the 4.45 range.  He has maintained that Michigan is the school that all others are measured against, but he refuses to officially call the Wolverines his leader.  This weekend could change that.

Daniel Helm has a much more structured visit planned.  Helm told me his exact plans, "I'm going to have dinner with Coach Hecklinski Sunday night and then we'll do a brief tour with my family.  After that I'll have a more in depth tour Monday.  After the tour I'll meet with the coaches, go over film, and meet with some academic advisors I think."  Helm seems to have it figured out already and will be quite busy this weekend but I plan to chat with him after the visit to see how it all went.

Josh Alabi, David Dawson, Mike Weber
Cass Tech RB Mike Weber will have a similar plan to Westphal's which includes watching the basketball game and getting familiar with the campus and visiting with the coaches as much as he can.  He told me he is really looking forward to it and knows it will be a good time.  I'm not sure about this, but I would assume that he and Alabi will head to Ann Arbor together so their plans will be very similar.  If I find that to be untrue I will correct it later.

This weekend's visitor list isn't swollen like next weeks will be, but all of the prospects visiting are very solid players with very realistic chances to become Wolverines.  I think it is worth mentioning that Derrick Green will also be on campus this weekend which can't hurt.  I don't believe a commitment will happen this weekend but Michigan could position itself very well with Westphal and Helm especially.  I believe Michigan leads for Weber and Alabi right now already and the visit this weekend should only help that standing.

  2. I think Westphal will be blue by the Spring game or Big House BBQ. I think Cole goes blue soon, hopefully followed by Scott. I think Doles is next to commit.
