Linebacker Situation Coming Into Focus

The M Block has uncovered some information regarding the final linebacker spot in the 2014 class and we feel very confident that it could belong to Chase Winovich.  Several sources close to the situation have informed us that Winovich will visit Michigan on May 10th and will have a chance to commit while on that visit.  Obviously these situations are never 100% guaranteed but this one seems to be headed in that direction.

The bottom line here is that the situation comes down to what Winovich wants to do.  If he feels the comfort level that he's looking for on his visit May 10th, he could be a Wolverine.  Winovich is where we believe the coaches would like to get to with big, tall, fast linebackers.  If you look at the teams that are consistently in the Top 5, they have NFL-type linebackers.  That is the direction the coaches want to head in.

  1. I would be happy with either Chase or Kyron Watson.

  3. Any chance this may move Watson visit up? I am with Michigan8 on this one. I would be happy with either one but botth would be better. I like both of them for different reasons. Chase covers more gound and Watson hit like a train. Any chance we can be greedy and take both? LOL

    1. Everything I've been told says it's just one more, not both.

    1. Wait, Jer I don't understand what you are saying here? "Some of the guys at wolverine 24/7 are real dick heads because they put down any info from any other sites the theirs." The theirs? I feel like this typo is in a bad spot and I can't follow what you are saying, haha. Because they did or didn't report it first?

A lot of confusion happening here Jer...clarification?

    2. Sorry I got a new tablet and sometime I tap the wrong auto spell.

All I way trying to say is they either dismiss or put down any info that does not come from Steve, Clint and the rest of the guys that work for 24/7. Clint is a good guy I meet him back in January and Steve is pretty cool but I did like it better when he ran his own site instead of doing what 24/7 tells him to do. My comment was for the guys that put down anybody that does not agree with everything they say. I will delete that last comment. Sorry for the confusion.

    3. Ok, got it...btw someone copy and pasted you over on the message board, haha, I guess before you deleted it. I understand their feelings though...247 subscribers are a loyal following and want to believe "their" guys above all else, which is cool. Even though Lorenz blasted me on the message board once upon a time, he and Wiltfong, and Brewster and all of them generally do a pretty damn good job. That being said, I like to think I do a pretty good job myself being an "independent" source. I don't have the luxury to tell a recruit, "Hey I work for Rivals, or Scout, or 247, or ESPN." The Big 4 obviously and expectedly can get some info that I can't but I still believe I deliver solid, legitimate information. Just now was the first time since Lorenz scolded me that I've even been to their message board. I do what I do here and if people want to read it, great, if not, that's their call. It's all good. The Michigan faithful is huge and pretty well informed. The more sources the better, I feel.

    4. My little b Brady 6 was nice enough to copy and paste it for me. But I really don't care. He is the same kid that downvoted me for saying Treadwell would not commit to UM.

You do a great job on this site considering you are doing this on your own time and on your dime. So thanks again for all that you do.

  5. Who do you feel has a higher ceiling Watson or Chase?

    1. I think it's not close with Winovich. He could eventually play at 6'5", 235-245. That's a beastly LB and he's got good speed and coverage instincts. Plus he's smart and wanted by OSU. All good things IMO. Keep in mind the coaches recruit kids based on a lot of off the field stuff as well.

  6. He's tweeting peppers asking to talk. Says one day they could be teamates. Only thing is he's visiting on may 20th so the spot might be filled by then. Either way I'd expect the LB spot to be filled by the end of may.

  7. Last year Tuley-Tillman this year Bushell-Beatty. Luckily big jerseys to fit all those letters. M leading the way again for OLs with hyphenated last names.

  8. Coach,
I get the feeling that Chase Winovich has already committed to UM. This is just a feeling and nothing else. Am I way off base on this?

    1. Sorry Coach, although you nailed the Harris commit, this Winovich thing feels like Brionte Dunn, a lifelong hardcore OSU guy who strings Michigan along... I think Winovich doesn't commit to us, then Watson immediately does.

    2. I feel Winovich may already have told the coaches he'll commit. He took an impromptu visit to OSU and Urban personally gave him the full court press to commit...he obviously did not commit and now he is visiting Michigan in the next 10 days. I have heard many things that makes me feel confident about him choosing Michigan. G7, at the same time, you are right...I felt almost as strongly about Berger and so did the coaches. Nothing is for sure until it happens, but right now I think Winovich is Blue.
