Quick Update: Jabrill Peppers and Malachi Dupre

I spoke with 2014 WR Malachi Dupre (John Curtis Christian High School - River Ridge, LA) tonight just to get a feel for how Michigan is doing with him and I was able to find out some promising information.  At first I was asking him if a visit to Michigan was something that he was interested in and he informed me that he fully intended on setting up a visit.  He wants to make a trip to Ann Arbor in the early summer and is fully aware that Drake Harris is already on board and that other receivers are high on Michigan right now.  He also knows that there are probably only 2 spots left at his position.  Michigan has also offered Dupre's teammates, LB Kenny Young and S Mattrell McGraw.  Dupre's visit plans are to bring Young along with him as well.  The conversation then shifted to how Michigan ranks for Dupre since he has not visited yet and he told me this, "Good. I talked to Jabrill Peppers this weekend while we were at LSU and he told me all about it.  He was cool and he liked it a lot."  To me, this is beyond a good sign.  Peppers is not even part of the class (yet) and he is already doing a bit of recruiting.  Obviously I wasn't there and don't know exactly what was said, but it was enough to make a positive impression on Dupre.  It is common knowledge that Peppers grew up a Michigan fan and loved his visit to Ann Arbor.  It is also worth noting that LSU has moved down his list after the visit he and Dupre were on.  Neither of these young men are Wolverines at the current time, and I'm not sure if there will be a receiver spot open by the time summer rolls around but if there is Dupre might be one to watch.  Getting Peppers in the fold and luring 2-3 talented Louisianians to campus would be another huge notch on the recruiting belt for Hoke and company.

  1. Great update Coach! I know I can't confirm it but I really think that Peppers could be a "Silent" commit. Also, I like how he is "recruiting" for Michigan.

  2. Tough to tell how much to put into these comments, but it can not be a bad thing to have Peppers talking in a positive way about Michigan. It sets a great tone to have top end talent talking highly of Michigan.

  3. Yes please. McGraw needs to come up too, he can play.

Jabrill might as well just commit now. Wearing the winged helmet and the #2 is his destiny.

  4. Jabrill doesn't want to wear #2.

    He wants to wear #5.

He wants to make the #5 Michigan jersey equally iconic as the #2 Michigan jersey is today...

  5. I think this will come down UM and Stanford. If Stanford does not blow him away when he visits then he is all blue.

It is great to hear that he is talking about UM to other recruits while he is on other visits.

  6. ESPN released their top 150, read the two tweets on the right side of the page. One of them is from Peppers, its funny to read considering the other tweet....

  7. I thought it was pretty cool that peppers retweeted some congratulating Speight on making the 150. I mean that's not normal. He's really gotta be leaning UM heavy as hell right now. Oh and I guess D Hand is talking us up to other recruits as hell as peppers. 247 reporting that things are looking up for Michigan and Hand. Couldn't read bc it's a pay wall. Heard someone say that Hand is reason Andrew Brown is visiting . I didn't like Hsnd gettin snub s d dropping to #5 in ESPN rankings. It was cool that we have the 2,3,4, & 5 ranked prospects looking very seriously at Michigan.

  8. I do like Peppers' mentality. When he hears about Michigan legends jerseys he does not hope to wear one, he hopes to have one named after him. Not the next Charles Woodson....better. Great athletes need to have great drive. He seems to know how to motivate himself. I saw that he tweeted to people not to congratulate him on his ranking because he was not #1 so there was still work to be done. Wow. No one will put more pressure on him than he already puts on himself. Sure hope he goes Blue.
