Depth at quarterback continues to be a focus for Michigan, and now have California native Keaton Dunsford on their radar as the Wolverines look to bolster their 2014 recruiting class.  Dunsford currently holds an offer from Harvard; however Penn State, California, and Stanford, in addition to Michigan, has increased their interest in the west coast signal caller.

Dunsford has pretty good mobility for his size, although you won’t confuse him for a dual threat quarterback. He does possess the ability to keep plays alive in the pocket and has the potential to scramble for a few yards on broken plays and keep the chains moving. The Cardinal Newman standout displays great accuracy and has immense patience for a junior quarterback. He has the confidence to take a shot down field, and the presence to check down to an underneath receiver. Dunsford sees the field really well and usually makes the correct decision, confirmed by his 5:1 (25 TD’s, 5 INT’s) touchdown-to-interception ratio last season. The biggest concern with Dunsford is his arm strength. While he has the accuracy and ability to make the majority of throws, not all of his attempts have enough velocity which will be required to complete passes at the next level. With a year of high school football remaining followed by a year at a prep school, Dunsford still has time to negate his critics.
